Did you know your body responds to the way you think & feel? This is often referred to as the “mind-body connection.” When you are stressed, anxious or upset, your body may feel like something is off. For example, a stomach ulcer or high blood pressure might develop after a particularly stressful life event, such as a death of a loved one. A weakened immune system can be a sign of high stress or poor emotional health. This can make you more susceptible to catching colds and other infections. In times of feeling high stress or anxiety you may not be taking as good of care of yourself. You may not feel up to exercising, healthy eating or taking your supplements or medicine. An increase in alcohol consumption can also be a sign things are out of balance.
To stay on track, it is important to take care of your body by committing to an exercise routine, healthy food choices, and regular sleep. Do your best to avoid binge eating, excessive alcohol consumption, & additional stressors. Consider taking up a meditation practice for as little as 5 minutes a day to help clear the mind. Gradually increase the duration over several weeks to as much as 30 minutes a day if you like.
